Mapping the Local Food Web in Hastings! Come along to find out more about how to get involved in this new project. 7pm -8:15pm, Wednesday 4th February, The White Rock Hotel, Hastings Sea Front , TN34 1JU This exciting new project is set to explore the benefits of local food to the local community, economy and the countryside around Hastings. The project, part of a national initiative led by the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) will pilot new ways of mapping the local food network, or ‘food web’ in and around the town. All who are interested to find out more about the pilot study are welcome to come along to this public event. Presentations from, and discussion with, · Maresa Bossano from Sustain and the Hastings Environment Network · Joel Brook from the Bridge Community Centre · Rachel Holtom from Transition Towns Hastings · Rachel Sutton CPRE’s Mapping project coordinator for the South East The project is supported nationally and locally by Big Lottery funding as part of the Making Local Food Work programme, which aims to reconnect people with the land through food and community enterprise. Volunteers will be invited to join the project for many different roles including steering the project, interviewing local shoppers, sellers and producers of local food, and running workshops for local residents. The meeting will be a great chance to find out more about the project, to join the team of volunteers and to see how the findings could support and develop the local food web in and around Hastings. There will be a chance for more informal chat over drinks and nibbles afterwards.
